What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will perform electrical duties including installing, modifying and maintaining efficient operating condition electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls, equipment and motors. You will troubleshoot, repair and/or modify and replace damaged, malfunctioning and worn electrical lines, circuits systems, fixtures, controls and equipment for the facilities within the Georgian Highlands Region.

How do I qualify?

What we are looking for:

• Must be licensed in the Province of Ontario as an Electrician or an Industrial Electrician
• Class 2 certification in Water Treatment, Water Distribution & Supply, Wastewater Treatment, Wastewater Collection would be considered an asset
• Valid Class G driver's license.
• Must be available to be on-call after regular working hours.

Knowledge

• Thorough knowledge and experience in the generation, maintenance and repair of equipment for the distribution and use of electrical energy at different voltages.
• Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental legislation and the policies, procedures and regulations that apply to this work and have practical knowledge and be conversant with the current Ontario Electrical Safety Code and its practices.
• Thorough knowledge of the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of programmable controllers, remote terminal units and data communications circuits, pneumatic and hydraulic instrumentation.
• Knowledge of electrical controls and monitors as applied to programmable logic controllers, motor types, motor magnetic center, lockouts and grounding.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, including incoming power supplies, step down transformers and distribution panels.
• Knowledge of HVAC and air control systems repair. Knowledge of the processes, procedures and equipment used in the relevant advanced water/wastewater treatment operations and distribution/collection systems.
Skills and Ability include
• Problem solving and analytical skills in order to make timely decisions and address work priorities and emergencies.
• Ability to work as a team and to take the initiative when required.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex operational control devices.
• Interpersonal skills to provide direction, advice and recommendations to contractors, equipment suppliers, project staff and other Agency personnel.
• Good oral and written communication skills to give advice and instructions and keep logs.
• Ability to use and understand operating and maintenance manuals, blueprints and other technical specifications
