Join the Ontario Science Centre as we implement a new strategic plan and celebrate our 50th birthday in 2019 with a busy year of programming. As one of Canada's most visited cultural attractions and a world-renowned hub for learning, the Science Centre welcomes more than 900,000 visitors each year including 170,000 students. We offer hands-on experiences, programs, films and events that engage visitors of all ages in science and exploration.

We are seeking an experienced, customer focused, results oriented leader to manage the planning, development, coordination and implementation of innovative and engaging revenue generating facility rental events - social and corporate; and science-based creative learning experiences for adults and corporations.

Note: This position includes occasional weekend, holiday and evening work.

What can I expect to do in this role?

•Oversee and manage the Centre's Facility Rentals business unit
•Maximize revenues through effectively using the Centre's existing programs and physical resources and by identifying new revenue generating offerings.
•Establish a strong commitment to customer service at every level
•Support and promote a productive team environment which reflects the Centre's values, a culture of excellence and creates an inclusive, diverse, equitable and accessible workplace

How do I qualify?

Management/Leadership Skills:

•Proven leadership skills to coach, mentor and manage staff, set clear departmental goals, provide consistent feedback, conduct performance evaluations and create developmental plans.
•Ability to foster an inclusive work environment with employees and stakeholders to strengthen engagement and promote innovation and creativity
•Knowledge of human resources practices, policies, directives and collective agreements in relation to recruitment, training and development, and labour relations to support an inclusive and engaged team.

Program Delivery and Technical Skills:

•Knowledge of general contract and sales agreement structure to negotiate and finalize sales and rental of programs and facilities.
•Analytical skills to determine trends and needs and to create policy and business plans for short and long term driven programs.
•Industry knowledge and business contacts that will help the Centre achieve its goals.
•Broad understanding of science and technology and the ability to maximize programmatic opportunities to further corporate goals.
•Knowledge of financial administration to prepare and execute budgets and to develop, manage and control allocated financial resources.
•Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques and theories to promote program offerings.
•Knowledge of special event delivery in a cultural/entertainment venue.

Communication/Stakeholder Relations:

•Communication, presentation and negotiation skills to successfully consult with internal and external clients at various levels while meeting or exceeding set customer service standards.
•Experience in relationship building/stakeholder management, consultation, negotiation and issues management.
•Demonstrated integrity, good judgment and tact when managing and resolving issues.
•Written communication skills to prepare reports, correspondence and briefing materials.
