Please note: This position may require you to work some evenings and weekend hours.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Programs Coordinator in the Science Engagement department, you will:
• Coordinate logistics for a series of events and programs that are consistent with the mandate of the Ontario Science Centre (OSC), and which contribute to attracting attendance.
• Identify potential event and program resources required (financial, physical, space, time, etc.) to deliver such events and programs to the OSC visiting public.
• Support Science Engagement initiatives in accordance with established budgets, work plans, resources, schedules and OSC quality standards and to liaise with Marketing and Communications to promote events and programs.
• Support Science Engagement program leads by providing program coordination and logistics to internal and external stakeholders through event planning and program delivery.

How do I qualify?

Event Coordination Knowledge and Experience

• You have knowledge and experience in event coordination to arrange logistics of science-based engagement programs.
• You have the ability to create event proposals and maintain budget allocations for special events and programs (weekend activities, festivals, etc.).
• You are able to coordinate all booking elements, event forms, and electric booking system for Science Engagement Team.
• You have the knowledge and ability to prepare and coordinate operations manuals, health and safety documentation, training materials, etc.

Organizational and Analytical Skills

• You have strong planning, prioritizing and organizational skills to prioritize and manage a diverse workload with conflicting deadlines from a variety of sources.
• You have analytical, problem-solving and reasoning skills to provide accurate detailed information, reports and presentation to support departmental needs.
• You are able to research, assess, and recommend venues for events and establish objectives, work-plans, timelines and budget.
• You can monitor progress and use issues management skills to recognize problems and recommend a resolution.

Communication and Consultation Skills

• You have excellent written communication skills to prepare reports, draft communications and other materials.
• You have strong communication and collaboration skills to work with staff and stakeholders in support of programs and events.
• You have excellent interpersonal skills to support partnerships and develop a network of contacts with community and special interest groups to exchange information and coordinate project activities.
• You are proficient in the use of software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet and data management.
