The Opportunity

The results of this competition will create a talent pipeline of qualified HR professionals to fill permanent and temporary opportunities in the following roles: HR Business Advisor, Workforce Planner, HR Advisor, Assistant HR Advisor, Talent Specialist, Talent Assistant, Job Evaluation Specialist and Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Advisor

The Location

Most HR head offices are in the province's capital. With more than 50 per cent of residents belonging to a visible minority, over 200 distinct ethnic origins represented, and over 150 languages spoken, Toronto is regarded as one of the most diverse cities in the world.

We are a community of diverse and collaborative professionals who proudly deliver client-centred HR services in Ontario ministries.

Ministry-based strategic HR business units are responsible for providing strategic advice and services to senior executives on key people management strategies and solutions in talent and succession management, workforce and human capital planning, data analysis and workforce metrics, organization design, capacity and change management, and ministry-level labour relations. Positions: HR Business Advisor and Workforce Planner

HR Service Delivery Division of Ontario Shared Services resides in the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, and is responsible for providing centralized, enterprise HR advice and services in the areas of talent acquisition, health, safety & wellness, job evaluation and general HR advisory services.

The HR Advisory Services team provides human resource management advice to help clients make informed decisions about their workforce, promote positive labour relations, enable organizational transformation and improve employee performance. The Talent Acquisition team delivers first-in-class, modern and customized talent acquisition strategies and services for the staffing of non-executive positions across ministries. The Job Evaluation Initiatives team develops and implements new job evaluation systems and delivers an enterprise-wide job evaluation program, providing classification services, promoting consistency and equity in how jobs are evaluated and ensuring compliance with pay equity legislation. The Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Office implements the Respectful Workplace Policy by providing strategies, advice and front-line resolution services that support OPS managers and staff in addressing allegations of workplace discrimination and harassment and promoting an inclusive and respectful workplace environment. Positions: HR Advisor, Assistant HR Advisor, Talent Specialist, Talent Assistant, Job Evaluation Specialist, Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Advisor

    In accordance with the Ontario Public Service (OPS), Employment Screening Checks Policy (ESCP), the top candidate(s) may be required to undergo a security screening check. The type of screening check required is a Criminal Record Check.

    You will be responsible for obtaining the criminal record check at your own expense and provide it, along with your written consent, to the Transition and Security Office (TSO), Talent Acquisition Branch (TAB), HR Service Delivery Division (HRSDD) to evaluate the results. If applicable, the TSO, with your written consent, will request and obtain any additional employment screening checks that were not obtained directly by you. (Note: If a Vulnerable Sector Screening Check is required, it must also be obtained in person at your local police service).

    A record under the Criminal Code and/or other federal offence record(s) does not automatically mean you will be ineligible for the position. The employment screening check(s) will only be reviewed and evaluated by the TSO for the purpose of making a security clearance decision. The details of an individual's employment screening check(s) will be considered in specific relation to the duties and responsibilities of the position being filled. Employment screening check records will be maintained by the TSO and kept strictly confidential.
