The Ontario Science Centre (OSC) is looking for an Electronics Engineering Technologist to join the Exhibit Operations team working in an exciting and internationally-respected organization. Located in Toronto, Ontario, this position is part of a team that works on Ontario Science Centre exhibition production for local, national and international audiences.

The successful candidate will play an important role in those efforts as an Electronics Engineering Technologist that designs, prototypes and maintains custom electronic circuitry for exhibits. Through these efforts, you will contribute to the Ontario Science Centre's success and the remarkable experience of our visitors.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As an Electronics Engineering Technologist in the Electrical and Electronic Support department at the Ontario Science Centre you will work within a team of skilled tradesmen to design, prototype, fabricate, maintain and repair electronic, audio visual and custom lighting installations and equipment in interactive exhibits and related areas.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• Completion of diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology

Technical Skills

• Interpersonal and analytical skills to create custom electronic circuitry based on designs provided by exhibit designers
• Knowledge of and in depth experience with shop safety and electronic practices and theories
• Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches and schematics to fabricate custom finished installations and components to precise measurements
• Experience in exhibit wiring and automation of interactive exhibits
• Experience in programming and wiring of microcontrollers and PLC's
• Advanced knowledge of operating a wide range of portable, hand tools and specialized testing equipment
• Knowledge of machinery, production methods, sourcing/costing/ and estimating materials
• Knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations as it pertains to the work
• Knowledge of automated show lighting, audio visual practices
• Ability for occasional travel at a local, national and international level
• Knowledge and ability to operate aerial lifting devices
• Physical ability to perform manual work

Collaboration & Organizational Skills

• Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplined teams of skilled trades on internal and international projects
• Collaboration and consultation skills to interact effectively with managers/staff from various departments , consultants, outside contractors and others
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Planning and organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize work to meet deadlines

Communication Skills

• Connect and communicate technical information to peers and non-technical parties, and establish effective working relationships
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
