Consider this opportunity to work behind the scenes at the Ontario Science Centre as a Shipper/Receiver. As a member of the team, you will play an essential role in the success of our operations by tracking shipments and maintaining inventory.

What can I expect to do in this role?
• Handle warehousing functions which include: shipping, receiving and checking quantities of items
• Ensure seamless processing of outgoing shipments and incoming items ( including the lifting of heavy boxes)
• Deliver exceptional customer satisfaction through timely and accurate order fulfilment
• Prepare envelopes and packages for mailing and operate postage meter
• Order and maintain appropriate inventory level of stores/stockroom items
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• An equipment operating license to operate a forklift
• Valid Class G driver's license
Technical Knowledge
• Extensive knowledge of warehousing/shipping practices and procedures in order to receive, store and distribute stock and materials
• Experience working with inventory tracking systems to record stock transactions
• Knowledge of relevant rules, regulations and legislation (e.g. Ontario Regulation 347 – Waste Management, WHMIS, Customs procedures) related to the incoming/outgoing of supplies to produce the appropriate documentation for receiving, preparing and labelling shipments
• Knowledge of Canada Post mailing requirements and operations of a postage metre
Analytical Skills
• Excellent analytical skills to assess incoming goods for quantity, quality or loss/damage by comparing shipments with purchase orders and packing slips in order to determine proper action
• Ability to review requests and select applicable stock items and materials, while dealing with inventory control
• Ability to determine suitable packaging and delivery methods
• Ability to make decisions to maintain adequate stock levels and to recommend removal of slow moving product
• Ability to prioritize tasks in order of importance in a fluctuating environment
Communication Skills
• Strong oral communication skills to exchange factual information with clients and suppliers regarding stock requests, materials and equipment
• Written communication skills to record stock transactions, update inventory records and complete requisitions using a computerized system
• Interpersonal skills to respond to customer complaints and liaise with suppliers regarding damaged goods, inferior quality, and backorders
Computer Skills
•Computer skills to use Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel to maintain spreadsheets/lists, etc.
•Email for correspondence with suppliers, clients
