About the job

The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Region Commander of North East Region requires an individual to provide cleaning and maintenance services for grounds, interior and exterior of buildings and vehicles, and arranging for building and vehicle repairs. To perform basic repairs and maintenance of operating systems, furniture and equipment.

Mandatory requirements

Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation.

Valid class G driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of vehicle maintenance guidelines in arranging vehicle maintenance and servicing.

Knowledge of and skill in operating cleaning equipment. Knowledge of maintenance of grounds keeping equipment and their operation. Understanding of building operations and mechanical systems in order to identify and arrange servicing and repairs by technical personnel.

Knowledge of relevant sections of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety Act that pertain to handling and storage of toxic chemical solutions such as solvents and cleansing agents, and safety in use of equipment.

Interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks to ensure vehicle is operational. Identify requirements before sending out for servicing.

Problem solving skills to determine repair needs and mechanical problems in building, its operating systems, furniture and equipment and ascertains whether or not an external contractor is required to resolve problem.

Ability to make decisions in prioritizing schedule of activities to ensure that they are completed in a timely and efficient manner along with other daily responsibilities.
