Remote Airports
Operates, maintains, reinvests, and manages 29 airports in Northern Ontario, providing the only year-round transportation to isolated Indigenous communities, including providing access to medical/medivac services, professional services (policing, social services, courts and legal services), general movement and emergency response.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• Direct, supervise and perform a variety of maintenance tasks
• Perform maintenance (changing fluids, lubricating, making adjustments to components)
• Operate a remote airport facility including airstrip, airport buildings and equipment
• Supervise the construction and repairs of runways, roads, fencing and brush clearing

How do I qualify?

Mandatory:

• Must have a restricted radio operator (air) license OR ability to obtain

Equipment Operation Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment (packer, bulldozer, loader, grader and dump truck), and small equipment (chainsaw, welder, circular saw, drill press and grinder)

Technical Knowledge:

• Knowledge of airport operations and maintenance procedures
• Knowledge of health and safety practices
• Ability to perform minor repairs to buildings and utilities

Technical Skills:

• Ability to repair and service equipment
• Ability to maintain equipment and tires
• Demonstrates basic computer skills to perform daily administrative duties in order to record, document and track required data (examples can be but not limited to runway condition reporting, fuel and lubricant usage reports, requisitioning materials and equipment parts, labour and equipment time sheets

Leadership Skills:

• Demonstrates supervisory and administrative skills
• Ability to apply decision making skills
• Public relations and communication skills
• Work planning and organizational skills

• Successful candidate will have to be able to obtain a DZ driver's license
• Successful candidate must have secured living accommodations with approval of Chief and Council in Sandy Lake
