We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in providing expertise in geographic information systems (GIS) techniques.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a local subject matter expert, you will:

• plan, manage and optimize the implementation and on-going use of the GIS technology and projects
• provide technical expertise in data management and the development of tools and applications
• provide project and operational delivery of data, analysis and information management for GIS user and client
• research, develop and maintain approved GIS products, services for distribution of mining lands data to the public and internal clients

How do I qualify?

GIS and data management knowledge:

• You have advanced knowledge of theory, methods and practices of geomatics.
• You have knowledge of spatial analysis and concepts, design, manipulation methods and storage of spatial databases.
• You have advanced skills in manipulating spatial data for the purposes of data integration, improvement, analysis or for use in more sophisticated applications of GIS.
• You have knowledge of effective data management practices and principles.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of geographic information systems and their functionality, including computer system technology and software applications.

Leadership and project management skills:

• You have project management experience and skills as they relate to principles, best practices and standards to effectively execute various projects on-time, within budget and required specifications.
• You have the ability to work effectively within and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• You have analytical skills to provide data analysis and management to meet client needs.
• You have proven evaluative and problem-solving skills to assess, understand and solve client user requirements and develop and deliver technical solutions.

Technical knowledge:

• You have knowledge of associated policies, directives and established procedures related to Information Access and Copyright and land management.
• You have the ability to interpret issues, legislation and laws affecting land title and property rights, such as Mining Act, Public Lands Act, Land Title Act, Surveys Act, Boundaries Act .
• You have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• You have interpersonal and teamwork skills to foster and maintain relationships.
• You have proven oral communication skills to discuss client requirements, coordinate activities with colleagues, managers and clients and liaise with stakeholders and partners.
• You have demonstrated written communication skills to develop and monitor work plans, prepare proposals and project reports.
