What can I expect to do in this role?

Policy Intern (3 positions)

Apply your research and analysis skills in a range of policy priorities and emerging areas that aim to support the creation of jobs, opportunities and prosperity for Ontarians. Supporting the policy development team, you will assist in:
• Conducting a variety of research and data collection from internal and external sources, including legislation and policies from other ministries and jurisdictions.
• Analyzing and evaluating policy information and data, conducting impact assessments, and identifying issues and trends.
• Consulting with stakeholders to obtain input/feedback on policy/program initiatives.
• Drafting and preparing a range of materials to support proposed policies and initiatives, including policy reports, options papers, House Book notes, presentations and briefing materials for management.

Program and Service Delivery Intern (1 position)
Apply your analytical and evaluation skills in this role that supports our team dedicated to improving the delivery of programs and services to help create conditions that drive innovation and business growth in Ontario. You will assist in:
• Conducting research, summarizing findings, and preparing reports and recommendations to improve program efficiencies.
• Reviewing the quality and accessibility of publicly available program information.
• Analyzing information and data and identifying trends to support the development of evidence-based findings and recommendations.
• Participating in consultations with program stakeholders to support quality services and improve customer satisfaction.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory:

• You must have graduated from a college or university, with a degree, diploma or post-graduate certificate, within the past 5 years (May 2016 – June 2021).
• You must self-identify as an Indigenous person (i.e. First Nations, Métis, Inuk).

Analytical and Research Skills:

• You understand research and analytical practices to source and analyze a variety of information and data, as well as identify trends to support the development of evidence-based findings and recommendations.
• You can interpret and apply legislation, policies, processes and procedures.

Oral and Written Communication Skills:

• You can prepare and present various documents, including presentations, reports and summaries.
• You can clearly and concisely communicate information.

Interpersonal and Teamwork Skills:

• You can establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• You can participate and contribute to working groups.

Planning and Organizational Skills:

• You are able to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks and projects with competing deadlines.

Computer Skills:

• You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to draft documents and reports, prepare presentations, and conduct analysis.

NOTE:

• These temporary internship positions are 9-month contracts starting July 2021.
