About UsThe Land and Resources I&IT Cluster (LRC) is one of eight clusters in the OPS formed to provide groups of ministry partners with all their information technology needs. LRC partners with the Ministries of: Indigenous Affairs; Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs; Environment, Conservation and Parks; Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry; and Energy.
LRC works with program areas in each of the ministries to understand their business needs and develop technology solutions that enable business transformation and digital public service goals and objectives. Technology solutions range from new business applications to office productivity tools, from information management expertise to telecommunications support.
The LRC works closely with other clusters and the Office of the Corporate Chief Information Officer (OCCIO) within the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services to enable shared technology solutions (development tools) and common infrastructure for the benefit of all ministries.
About the BranchThe Digital Solutions Branch collaborates with cluster partner ministries to co-design, deliver and support digital solutions, providing leadership in emerging technologies and innovative delivery techniques to enable modern government services.

What can I expect to do in this role?
As a Senior Database Analyst (Advanced Analytics), you will:
• Provide leadership in the design, development and implementation of Advanced Analytics (Business Intelligence / Business Analytics) solutions
• Provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders on the use of database management techniques and technologies
• Ensure solutions meet business needs of internal and external stakeholders and adhere to Cluster and enterprise policies and standards
• Provide advice and guidance on new Advanced Analytics developments, technologies, and opportunities
How do I qualify?
Technical Knowledge and Experience
• you have demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementing and administering Advanced Analytics tools (Cognos, PowerBi) and related emerging technologies
• you have demonstrated expert knowledge and experience in application development on a wide range of computer technologies
• you have proven technical leadership in planning, analysis, definition, design, development and implementation of Advanced Analytics solutions
• you have demonstrated knowledge and experience in data management and solutions delivery principles, methodologies like agile, troubleshooting techniques and scripting languages such as SQL
• you have demonstrated knowledge and experience in design and development of databases and data management structures, data storage and retrieval techniques, and optimizing database performance of Advanced Analytics solutions
• you have demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementing and administering data integration systems like Informatica
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
You have analytical and problem-solving skills to:
• develop project plans, data management structures and overall database design requirements and standards
• coordinate analysis and development of data management systems and to troubleshoot complicated problems
Communication Skills
You have demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to:
• interview diverse clients about program operations, decision-making processes, goals and objectives
• present findings and recommendations to senior management
• prepare systems documentation, manuals, business cases, and project reports
• draft database management policies and standards
• explain analyses/recommendations
