Child and Parent Resource Institute (CPRI) provides trauma-informed and highly specialized services for children and youth of Ontario who experience complex and long-standing combinations of mental health difficulties and/or developmental challenges, and where these difficulties significantly impact functioning in multiple areas, such as home, school and community, and appropriate community interventions have not produced the desired response. Programs and services at CPRI are based on a partnership model with community service providers to support children and youth with complex combinations of special needs,
CPRI is seeking an experienced Psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals to provide psychological services. CPRI psychologists provide leadership and oversight to inpatient and outpatient teams for children and youth with complex combinations of special needs, including developmental disabilities, autism and severe behavioural, emotional and mental health challenges.

CPRI is also the Site Lead for the London Clinical Psychology Residency Consortium and as a result, CPRI Psychologists have the opportunity to supervise Psychology Residents through Consortium

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• Provide a wide variety of psychological services related to the diagnosis, treatment, assessment, evaluation and discharge planning for individual clients
• Provide a leadership role in terms of treatment or assessment planning, program evaluation, keeping clinical practices current in terms of available literature, and serving as content experts to others at CPRI as well as the broader community
• Work with clinicians from other disciplines who have complimentary or overlapping skill sets. This provides an environment for collaborative and interdisciplinary work that may not be possible in other settings. Opportunities may include:
    o Comprehensive assessment involving the input of a Speech and Language Pathologist or Occupational Therapist
    o Collaborative development of a Behaviour Support Plan with a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA)
    o Family assessment and/or intervention with a Social Worker
• Have opportunities for observation and supervision, including with other Psychologists, Psychometrists, and other clinical disciplines at CPRI. Supervision is considered part of employment at CPRI so no additional costs for supervision or consultation are incurred
• Provide consultation and advice to management team, community agencies and other health care professionals

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You are currently registered in good standing as a Psychologist in Ontario (or will be eligible for registration within the next 12 months)

Specialized Knowledge and Experience

• You have knowledge and experience in providing treatment, assessment, and diagnosis services to children with complex behavioural and emotional difficulties, and their families
• You have knowledge and experience in providing counselling, training and educational programming to groups of children and parents in the management of complex behavioural problems.

Other Essential Skills

• You have clinical consultation skills to co-ordinate and interact effectively with various community agencies and professionals
• You have analytical and organizational skills to plan, organize, supervise and carry out research and evaluation studies
• You have excellent oral and written communication skills to prepare clinical reports, compile research findings and communicate effectively with community agencies and professionals
