The Ministry The Ministry of the Solicitor General is responsible for the safety and security of communities across Ontario through effective policing, correctional services and emergency services programs. The ministry promotes policing excellence by communicating with and providing advice to the police community, as well as through training, developing professional standards and establishing new programs. The Ontario Provincial Police provides front-line policing services to more than 400 municipal and First Nations communities. The ministry is also responsible for maintaining effective and efficient correctional programs that create an environment where offenders are better able to return to the community and make positive contributions to society. Through the work of the Office of the Chief Coroner, Office of the Fire Marshal, Centre of Forensic Sciences and Emergency Management Ontario, the ministry seeks to minimize or eliminate hazards to people and property.
The Division The Modernization Division (MOD) drives transformation within the ministry and the broader criminal justice sector through innovation, digital integration and client-focused services and solutions. MOD provides a suite of services to all ministry divisions, partner ministries and stakeholders to lead, plan and deliver on priority initiatives.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• Provide project management leadership, expertise and support to corporate projects
• Participate in steering committees and other forums to ensure project is aligned with business and policy goals, direction and needs
• Establish project priorities, accountabilities and deliverables
• Provide leadership to project teams, external service providers, and contractors through all phases of projects from development through to implementation and transition to other divisions
• Represent the branch, division, and Ministry on committees and working groups to share expertise, make presentations, and identify best practices
• Provide advice and recommendations on strategic projects to ministry and divisional senior management including Deputy Minister, Minister and Minister's staff
How do I qualify?
Project Management Expertise
• You have extensive knowledge of and experience with project planning and management techniques, tools, current software, best practices, and project life cycle methodologies.
• You have experience with project administration to manage staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and monitoring of projects.
• You have risk assessment and risk management skills.
• You have knowledge of government decision-making and approval processes and reporting protocols.
• You know program management principles and techniques in order to develop project plans that address program delivery needs.
• You understand current methodologies pertaining to systems architecture, design, development, testing, integration and implementation.
Project Leadership
• You have leadership and conceptual skills to guide, develop and motivate project team members to achieve organizational goals, objectives, and results.
• You have experience with finance, procurement, and budget preparation in order to manage fiscal and material resources including budgets, facilities, assets, and contracted service providers.
Interpersonal and Consultation Skills
• You have interpersonal and negotiation skills to lead consultations with various stakeholders who may have opposing needs and interests.
• You have consultation and facilitation skills to work effectively with other divisions of the Ministry.
• You have advisory and presentation skills to present initiatives and recommendations to senior management.
Analytical and Evaluation Skills
• You can identify and assess program/policy and operational related issues, determine appropriate course of action, and provide recommendation to senior management, the Deputy Minister and Minister's Office for decision-making.
• You are able to research, develop, implement and maintain a repository of best practice project management policies, tools, model practices and learning resources for the Ministry.
• You can evaluate and define project management requirements.
• You can assess alignment and compliance with Ministry strategies and directions.
