AMENDMENT: Closing date extended due to OPS Careers system outage The Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch is seeking a licensed electrician to undertake the installation, maintenance, replacement, repair of all electrical systems and components at the E.C. Drury School and and Trillium Demonstration School, Milton Campus.
With both student lodging and day students, the school includes classrooms, recreational and dining facilities, and student lodges.

What can I expect to do in this role?
• install and maintain various electrical devices, appliances, machines and equipment
• check and repair swimming pool lighting and filtering equipment
• repair and replace electric cables, transformers, and mercury vapour ballast for street lighting
• perform preventative maintenance on all equipment
• record-keeping of materials used, repairs, inspections and constructions
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• You have completed an apprenticeship in the electrical trade, and are recognized in Ontario as an Electrician 309A or equivalent.
Electrical knowledge:
You have knowledge of:
• equipment and tools used in electrical trade
• relevant legislation, municipal by-laws and codes, provincial building codes, Lockout/Tag-out procedures, confined space entry, and working at heights in order to work safely
• blueprints, schematics and drawings to ensure the proper layout of installations such as switches and conduits
Other essential skills:
You have:
• verbal communication skills to provide instructions, discuss requests for new installations or extensive repairs, and explain technical matters in easily understood terms
• written communication skills to prepare and maintain logs, prepare plans, sketches and cost estimates
• problem-solving skills to find defects in electrical, mechanical and electronic systems and to decide/recommend fixes and repairs
