The Fair, Safe and Healthy Workplaces Division's role is to set, communicate and enforce fair employment practices and occupational health and safety standards in Ontario workplaces.
As part of the Central Western Region staff you will provide administrative support to the delivery of Occupational Health and Safety and Employment Standards programs within the Region of Peel, York Region, Dufferin County and Simcoe County.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role you will:
• Provide a range of clerical, administrative, and related support services to the Program Managers, Health and Safety Inspectors and Employment Standards Officers.
• Respond to general public inquiries.
• Maintain files and respond to freedom of information requests.
• Review and assign events to inspectors for their action.

Customer Service, Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• You have highly developed customer-service skills/orientation.
•You have the ability to work as a team member and handle high level of stress when dealing with fatalities, work accidents and irate clients.
• You have proven communication skills to obtain details of incidents and events, workers and claims from employers and police.
•You have demonstrated oral/written communication skills to provide information and prepare responses/correspondence.
Administrative Knowledge and Skills:
• You have computer proficiency with proven expertise in utilizing various software applications such as word-processing, spreadsheet, presentations and email and keyboarding skills.
• You have knowledge of records management and practices to maintain electronic and manual records/filing systems.
•You have knowledge of the operation of various office equipment.
•You have knowledge of office administration policies and procedures to provide support to managers and staff.
•You have organizational skills to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Analytical, Reasoning and Problem-Solving Skills:
• You have demonstrated ability to develop a solid understanding of Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development programs and legislation that applies to them (i.e. Health and Safety and Employment Standards) in order to handle/refer enquiries and provide program information.
•You can respond to inquiries and/or complaints, referring where appropriate and ensuring confidentiality.
•You have demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and resolve problems independently.
