What can I expect to do in this role?

• Develop short and long-term communications strategies and plans, in consultation and collaboration with subject-matter, service design and change management experts, to support projects and initiatives
• Manage communications for urgent, complex, and highly contentious issues
• Provide strategic communications advice, services, and products to senior management and project managers.
• Research, write, review, and edit communications material, issues and briefing notes, presentation, and speaking notes.
• Write, edit, and review website content and provide web editor expertise.

How do I qualify?

Communications Skills

• You have demonstrated oral and written communications skills to provide advice to senior staff on issues and prepare a broad range of briefing materials
• You have a proven ability to respond to inquiries for information, lead/coordinate meetings, develop and make presentations and provide guidance
Written and oral communication skills to prepare/edit materials
• Ability to gather and distil information from subject matter experts into plain language for various audiences.

Research, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

• Apply research and analysis skills to gather, analyze, review, and provide advice on information for communications purposes
• Identify and evaluate emerging issues, and brief senior management and ministry officials
• Research, evaluate, compose and edit communication materials for approval by senior management
• Assess a situation and anticipate consequences to determine the most appropriate response
• Advise senior management on communications strategies, tactics and processes to support branch activities.

Interpersonal, Consulting and Project Management Skills

• You have demonstrated interpersonal, negotiating and consulting skills to plan and coordinate with suppliers, colleagues and clients
• Relationship management and team work skills to initiate and maintain strong and co-operative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• You have proven project management skills to plan and implement communications strategies.

Specialized Knowledge

• Strategic communications planning and implementation best practices to propose communications plans and strategies
• Marketing/public relations best practices, tools and resources including the ability to create, edit and distribute video, graphic or other visual aid products. design, and knowledge of tactics with respect to dissemination of communications material to coordinate production and release of communications products
• SharePoint knowledge and experience to manage Branch and Office online presence and information dissemination.
