The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development's Employment and Training Division contributes to a prosperous and stable economy by delivering integrated employment and training programs and services.

The Division's Finance, Analysis and Systems Support Branch (FASSB) leads financial planning, corporate reporting and risk management exercises; provides a comprehensive suite of dynamic reporting and analytic products; and works with Ministry and I&IT Cluster partners to manage the development, enhancement and maintenance of the division's business information systems and digital business models. The branch offers an innovative and inclusive culture, exposure to an integrated perspective on policy and program delivery and on-going opportunities for managers and staff to develop new skills and competencies.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In the role of Business Systems Support Agent, you will:

• log enquiries
• analyze user problems with information systems, identify issues, and suggest solutions
• provide guidance and advice to users
• provide, revoke and update security access to system users and other data updates
• assist in the development and maintenance of the business application website as well as materials supporting Employment Ontario information systems
• participate in system enhancements such as identifying business requirements, conducting user acceptance and functional system testing and delivering training to business users

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

To qualify for the bilingual vacancy, you must possess oral and written French language skills at the advanced level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

• You have extensive knowledge and experience working with the operational functions and technical workings of complex information systems and their related databases, reports, and operational and business processes.
• You have excellent computer skills and knowledge of software applications to operate and manipulate applications and systems data, and use the Unit's software, systems, and computer tools.
• You can develop an expert knowledge of the operational functions and technical workings of Employment Ontario information systems and its databases, reports and operational processes as well as business processes, programs, policies and related legislation.
• You can develop an expert knowledge of Employment Ontario's programs and services and other Employment Ontario information systems.

Research, Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills:

• You can demonstrate that you have strong systems analysis skills to investigate operational problems, error reports, data problems and similar issues.
• You have experience conducting in-depth research and analysis of issues reported by users to identify and correct system problems.

Communications, Interpersonal and Consultation Skills:

• You have developed excellent written communication skills, including editing skills to prepare correspondence, technical requirements for new processes system changes as well as improve the format of written material such as user manuals and material on websites.
• You have strong oral communication skills to provide advice, information and assistance to internal clients and external stakeholders and to provide technical guidance on business operational aspects of Employment Ontario information systems.
• You have well-developed interpersonal and consultation skills to provide effective business support advice to systems users, develop and maintain effective business relationships, and discuss and resolve issues.

Other Important Skills:

• You can demonstrate the ability to work independently to address user issues and as a team member to facilitate system and business effectiveness.
