As a Senior I&IT Project Manager in the Project Management Program Delivery, Labour and Transportation I&IT Cluster, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that drive digital transformation using design thinking strategies and exploring new technology trends that continue to redefine IT, business and the way we service the citizens of Ontario. You will build and maintain strong partnerships between internal Government of Ontario departments, academic institutions and private businesses to help grow Ontario's innovation ecosystem.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:

• Plan and lead Information Technology (IT) initiatives ranging from large multi-ministry/multi-year projects to small enhancement initiatives.
• Develop and manage client relationships, foster partnerships with business clients, internal and external stakeholders, and solution delivery partners.
• Develop project charters and master project plans, guides definition of goals, deliverables and scope working with project stakeholders to ensure clarity, accuracy, and acceptance.
• Manage project Issues, Risk, Actions, Decisions (IRAD), identify and recommend mitigation strategies and action plans.
• Manage project financials, resources plans, governance reporting and escalations.
• Provide leadership and guidance to project teams

How do I qualify?

Leadership and Change Management Skills:

• You provide leadership in researching best practices to establish and maintain high standards for products.
• You have experience leading multi-disciplinary teams (user experience designers, developers and quality assurance experts) to deliver complex a range of digital solutions.
• You have experience leading large scale, complex projects and initiatives with high levels of autonomy.
• You embrace change and innovation-Growth and Change Leadership,
• You promote innovative ideas and create an environment where everyone can apply innovation in their work.
• You have continuous improvement mindset

Project Management Knowledge and Experience:

You have:
• Knowledge of project management theory, methods and techniques related to all phases of an IT project life cycle
• Experience in leading digital initiatives from concept to launch using agile methodologies
• Experience working with product roadmaps and backlogs to ensure a smooth and on-time delivery.
• Experience developing and monitoring multi-year project plans, with strong IRAD (Issues, Risks, Actions, Decisions) management skills
• Experience in resource management practices and methods, including financial and controllership management to develop and manage large project budgets
• Managed project resources and ensured project has appropriate resourcing to complete the approved work within the approved time and budget
• Experience negotiating with clients on project scope, time and cost to define the project completion and acceptance

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

You have:
• Knowledge of IT systems development phases, requirements and interdependencies
• Knowledge of IT solutions & architecture, standards, processes and strategies
• Knowledge of the OPS checkpoint and gating processes required to successfully complete an application development project

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

You have:
• Negotiation skills and diplomacy, to facilitate discussions, diffuse tensions, and resolve issues
• Political acuity to collaborate, share information, lead/participate in relationship building forums with stakeholders
• The Ability to develop and facilitate partnerships with ministry program areas and ensure understanding of business directions, objectives, and priorities.
• Experience working collaboratively with various stakeholders, influencing outcomes, and obtaining buy-in
