This position is with Public Safety Solutions portfolio of SOLGEN Solutions branch and is responsible to deliver IT solutions for business areas in this sector including Office of Chief Coroner, Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, Center of Forensic Sciences, Public Safety division, Office of Fire Marshal and Emergency Management etc. Public Safety unit is responsible for end-to-end project/solutions delivery including architecture design, development, configuration, implementation and roll-out.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• play a lead role in analysis, design and development of new solutions, planning of advanced/complex development projects, definition of client requirements and assisting with enhancements for existing applications
• provide business analysis and systems consulting expertise to clients, presenting and explaining technical issues, identifying alternatives, and providing and recommending IT solutions which will help ministry/clients achieve efficiencies in delivery of programs/services
• maintain technology/product evaluation program in areas of systems development and productivity tools, and collaborate with client groups on areas of ministry's information technology requiring improvement
• carryout complex/specialized systems analysis and design, developing RFPs (Requests for Proposals), evaluating vendors' proposals and recommending selection
• facilitate development, promotion, implementation and integration of organization's strategic information technology plans, objectives, policies and standards
• provide project leadership and technical direction to team members

How do I qualify?

Information Technology Knowledge

You have:
• Architecture expertise across all architecture domains (application, technical, information, security, network), including architecture review, assessment, development, implementation and maintenance projects
• Knowledge of business analysis, systems consulting, and systems development, and ability to write or modify code (e.g. .NET, PHP or general scripting, , C#, QL Server, XML/XSLT/XSD)
• Good Programming/Development experience (preferably .NET/Microsoft platform) and ability to manage team of developers
• Knowledge of Windows server environment, ISA Server, Oracle, SQL Services, VPN, Entrust
• Knowledge of handling malicious software attacks and steps taken to prevent these attacks
• Knowledge and understanding of Application Software Development/Design Principles and Agile Software development processes
• Knowledge of databases (SQL Server / Oracle)
• Knowledge of troubleshooting data transaction and handling of data traffic, SDLC, and ITSM

Network/Infrastructure Skills and Knowledge

You have:
• Knowledge of network/IT Infrastructure design concepts, standards and tools
• Ability to draft and develop infrastructure requirements for new IT solutions, and ability to discuss or collaborate on the requirements with the Infrastructure design partners within OPS or externally.
• Knowledge and understanding of application security throughout system life cycle
• Understanding of data warehousing, data mining and knowledge-based system
• Knowledge of Application Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability, and change control operations

Information Technology Securities Knowledge

You have:
• Experience in implementing application securities and the ability to determine cost-effective solutions to align application security architecture
• Ability to understand the application Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA) requirements, and to propose appropriate solutions, and/or strategies to implement safeguards
• Knowledge of security concepts and technologies, and firewalls

Communication, Interpersonal and Customer Service Skills

You have:
• Presentation and oral communications skills (speak technical to non-technical people)
• Interpersonal skills and ability to present and illustrate recommendations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to function in a team-oriented, goal-oriented, and customer-focused environment
• Proven experience in conducting business analysis sessions with clients
• Proven ability to understand client requirements effectively and clearly in order to articulate and propose effective solutions
