• provide information and clarification on legislation, policies and programs to schools, school boards, and other stakeholders
• facilitate the implementation of new policies
• monitor and report on the effectiveness of the school system
• ensure compliance with ministry policies and programs
• help provide a strong and vibrant education system
How do I qualify?
Mandatory requirements:
• This position requires that applicants be members in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
• You must possess oral and written French language skills at the superior level. Proficiency level will be verified by an Ontario Public Service approved evaluator.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
• You have knowledge of and ability to understand education theory, principles and practices at the elementary and secondary school levels
• You can understand community educational needs and recommend improvements where gaps exist
• You have issues management skills to investigate anticipated implications of new/revised policies and programs at the local school board level
Analytical and Research Skills
• You possess analytical and evaluative skills to interpret relevant legislation (e.g., Education Act), assess compliance with policy requirements, provincial standards, and curriculum.
• You have research skills to prepare advisory reports and briefings, and make evidence-based recommendations.
Communication skills:
• You have written communication skills to prepare detailed reports, briefing notes, recommendations, and correspondence.
• You have oral communication and interpersonal skills to provide advice, deliver presentations and consult with school boards, educational facilities, community representatives and other stakeholders.
Leadership Skills
• You have leadership skills to provide a liaison role and to demonstrate authority and credibility when dealing with boards and interest groups
