What can I expect to do in this role?

In this position, you will:

• process and maintain assessment files
• assist with library services
• provide technical assistance and information services to clients
• maintain databases
• assist with property visits and field work
• carry out general clerical and administrative functions

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
• You must possess oral French language skills at the advanced level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.

Specialized knowledge:

• working knowledge of the principles and practices of geology
• knowledge of exploration and geotechnical assessment work
• ability to read and interpret geological maps and air photos

Technical/computer skills:

• ability to read and interpret geological maps and air photos
• computer proficiency with standard office software (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet browsers) with good keyboarding/data entry skills
• ability to operate geographic information systems and internet based systems to display and retrieve information

People skills:

• effective communication, interpersonal and customer service skills to interact with clients

Other relevant skills:

• good problem-solving, investigative and research skills
• ability to work independently and set work priorities
• knowledge of administrative practices
• ability to conduct field investigations, including traversing across rugged terrain
