As a Data Developer in the Digital Solutions, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that drive digital transformation using design thinking strategies and exploring new technology trends that continue to redefine IT, business and the way we service the citizens of Ontario. Working with a high-impact team, you will be constantly learning new technologies and techniques through research, experimentation and collaborating with other team members.

About Us
The Land and Resources I&IT Cluster (LRC) is one of eight clusters in the OPS formed to provide groups of ministry partners with all their information technology needs. LRC partners with the Ministries of: Indigenous Affairs; Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs; Environment, Conservation and Parks; Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry; and Energy,

LRC works with program areas in each of the ministries to understand their business needs and develop technology solutions that enable business transformation and digital public service goals and objectives. Technology solutions range from new business applications to office productivity tools, from information management expertise to telecommunications support.

The LRC works closely with other clusters and the Office of the Corporate Chief Information Officer (OCCIO) within the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services to enable shared technology solutions (development tools) and common infrastructure for the benefit of all ministries.

The Digital Solutions Branch collaborates with cluster partner ministries to co-design, deliver and support digital solutions, providing leadership in emerging technologies and innovative delivery techniques to enable modern government services.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• develop, execute and maintain administrate databases and to perform data analysis and intelligence solutions in support of the Ministry's application portfolio.
• work with project team and take part in development database design and dissemination of data from provincial natural resource and topographic databases
• monitor the health of databases and address issues as they arise as well as incidents raise by clients; provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders on the use database management techniques and technologies.
• work with teams to improve delivery of service and introduce operational efficiencies to data pipelines and storage structure solutions
• develop, test, implement, and support advanced analytics (diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive) ,self-serve analytics solution, and unified solution for corporate data automation, integration, and application programing interfaces (APIs)

How do I qualify?

Technical Expertise

You have:
• proven knowledge of relational/spatial database management, administration, and information architecture theory, principles and techniques of data modeling using computer aided software, and use of information engineering
• knowledge of a wide range of computer system technologies, including server-based technologies and personal computer systems, application and database management software (Oracle, ArcSDE, Oracle Enterprise Manager), and database development methodology, and relational database concepts
• knowledge of current and emerging coding/programming/scripting languages (SQL, PL/SQL, Python), platforms, methods, techniques for design, development, and implementation of data storage, extraction, transformation, processing, synthesizing, mining, and analytical solutions
• knowledge of analytical and data science methods and techniques, such as, but not limited to: statistical analysis and modelling, data mining, machine learning, deep learning, algorithms, natural language processing, artificial intelligence and other related disciplines.
• knowledge of range of current and emerging: coding/programming/scripting languages, platforms, methods, techniques, and tools for design, development, and implementation of big data, analytics, and data science solutions
• ability to create, maintain, support and operate large volume data, self-serve analytics, advanced analytics (diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive)

Research, Analytical and Problem-solving Skills

You can:
• design databases, analyze and develop project plans, data management structures and overall database operation efficiencies, requirements and standards
• identify user problems, system and information bottlenecks and feasible solutions, develop security levels and security procedures
• apply and adapt precedents to solve problems
• develop and recommend standards and procedures for operating issues such as user access, security measures, data storage and retention, data manipulation and reporting capabilities
• research and assess potential use of new information engineering and data management techniques, methodologies, software and hardware such as, but not limited to ingestion, streaming, capture, storage, extraction, transformation, structuring, processing, synthesizing, loading, mining, profiling, wrangling, analysis, preparation visualization and other related disciplines

Communication and interpersonal Skills

You can:
• exchange information during development and operation of data lake and data warehouse, advise on technical requirements
communicate information to both a technical and non-technical audience
• written communication skills to prepare systems documentation and prepare reports on analyses
• obtain information from other staff, advise on technical requirements, and collaborate to achieve efficient collaborate to achieve efficient operation
