What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• provide regional coordination and leadership, technical expertise, strategic guidance, policy interpretation and advice related to operational delivery of the ministry's public lands and waters management program to staff within the region/districts and provide advice to MNRF senior management
• coordinate input, and support the review and development, of provincial lands and waters programs, policy and legislative development, and new initiatives
• provide input to provincial and regional public land management and resource management exercises, and liaise with corporate policy areas, legal services and external clients and other agencies
• provide leadership, participation, and regional representation in support of the ministry's broader public lands and waters program, regionally based public land management projects, and/or associated resource management initiatives
How do I qualify?
Coordination and project management skills:
You have:
• demonstrated experience in coordinating program implementation, identifying implementation issues and developing recommendations for action to ensure that provincial direction is integrated consistently through the provision of program advice and training
• project management and organizational skills to plan, develop, coordinate and monitor public land management activities and lead complex projects
• the ability to manage set priorities, develop strategic work plans and to meet deadlines/project objectives in a fast-paced work environment
Interpersonal and collaboration skills:
You have:
• demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships/partnerships and to liaise with ministry staff, external stakeholders, municipalities, Indigenous communities, and the public on complex issues
• the ability to negotiate, influence and build consensus between parties of diverse perspectives in provide input into policies, program and initiative to support for operational objectives
Communication skills:
You have:
• the ability to lead and conduct meetings and presentations, and clearly and succinctly identify issues, options and recommendations and their rationale and to persuasively present solutions and ministry position
• proven communication skills to prepare a variety of documents and presentations that facilitate or support, training, decision making or provide information for a variety of internal and external clients and partners
Technical knowledge:
You have:
• demonstrated knowledge of resource management legislation related to public land management (e.g. Public Lands Act, Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act and the Environmental Assessment Act) and policy development procedures to provide advice related to the application of lands and waters policies and programs
• knowledge of operational, programs and procedures, to provide context and insight to the development of provincial policies, technical procedural documents and strategic plans
Analytical and problem-solving skills:
You have:
• the ability to identify, assess and develop strategies and plans to implement the lands and waters program and develop solutions to resolve problems or recommend a course of action
• analytical skills to select, interpret and apply applicable public land management legislation and other relevant program policies, procedures and guidelines
