What can I expect to do in this role?
In this challenging role, you will:
• assess, determine or make final decisions on the eligibility of applicants nominee applications nomination in accordance with program objectives, established program criteria, guidelines and legislative regulations to determine eligibility under the OINP.
• communicate with applicants or their representatives on matters relating to their application.
• provide advice on program and procedural improvements that meet the changing needs of the provincial nominee program.
• build and foster relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• collaborate with program staff in the identification and assessment of program risks and contentious issues and recommend options to mitigate impact.
• coach and mentor junior processing staff and provide advice and guidance in their assessment of applications, interpretation of eligibility criteria and communication with applicants.

How do I qualify?
Mandatory
Bilingual Senior Processing Officer Only:
• You are proficient in oral and written French at the advanced level
Technical Knowledge:
• You have knowledge of the mandate, role and the application process of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program to render decisions on the eligibility of applicants for nomination for permanent residence status.
• You can interpret and apply legislation such as the Ontario Immigration Act, the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and the Canada Ontario Agreement on Provincial Nominees to assess applications to determine program eligibility.
Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:
• identify, analyze and research emerging program issues to support the development of operational policy options and recommendations for program improvement.
• identify, gather and assess relevant information to support decision making.
• set priorities and manage a large volume of case files within defined timelines.
Communication Skills:
• provide information to ministry staff, applicants, their representatives and the public regarding the nomination process, program criteria and decisions.
• prepare case notes, correspondence, reports, briefing materials and other program-related documentation.
Interpersonal Skills:
• build relationships and foster partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to provide advice, share knowledge and collaborate on projects and working groups.
• coach and mentor junior staff to support their assessment of applications, interpretation of eligibility criteria and communications with applicants.
