We are seeking innovative, strategic and collaborative policy professionals to advise, influence and lead the successful delivery of MCCSS's strategic policy agenda through government decision-making and implementation.

In these roles, you will be working with partners across the ministry and government to deliver on horizontal cross-cutting priority policy issues through:

• Stakeholder engagement and Partner Relationships, including negotiation and consultations
• Policy Research and Analytics
• Policy Development, Design and Decision-Making
• Alignment between Policy and Fiscal Priorities

The teams you could be joining are:

Strategic Integration Unit (Policy Alignment and Intergovernmental Relations Branch)
Collaborates with the Policy Development and Collaboration Branch, Business Planning Branch, Business Planning and Corporate Services Division and other ministry partners to support policy alignment and integration across MCCSS to better integrate policy and fiscal decision-making, and to support the Ministry's annual submission in the Strategic Planning Process.

Intergovernmental Strategy Unit (Policy Alignment and Intergovernmental Relations Branch)
Works with Cabinet Office-Intergovernmental Affairs and through bilateral and multi-lateral relationships and negotiations, strengthens knowledge of, and alignment among, policies and programs of other governments to help advance Ontario's interests related to children, community and social services.

Policy Innovation and Insights Unit (Policy Research and Insights Branch)
Using a strategic foresight lens, creates and maintains a high-quality, coherent and functional forward view to understand and plan for future trends and events, and research and evidence synthesis to support long-term change and transformation and policy priority setting for the future.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• Undertake policy and issues analysis in line with ministry/provincial strategic policy objectives
• Participate in the development of policy and program recommendations, consultation and implementation planning
• Conduct or lead studies / scans related to policy research and development
• Provide technical support to research and dissemination of knowledge using SharePoint and O365 applications
• Prepare research findings and provide recommendations to senior management
• Draft policy and research materials for senior management review
• Develop and maintain contacts with key internal and external stakeholders
• Provide support to multi-jurisdictional working groups involved in policy review and development
• Provide input into the development of communication strategies for the dissemination of information to ministry stakeholders
• Participate and lead sub-project groups by preparing work plans, responsibility charts and providing status updates for project leads and management

• You have knowledge of policy and legislative processes
• You have knowledge of program development and implementation
• You have experience in using policy and research tools, methods and techniques

Research, Evaluation and Analytical Skills

• You can contribute to the development of innovative programs, implementation plans and standards/guidelines.
• You demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity and a high degree of political acuity
• You can assess the effectiveness of policies/programs against Ministry initiatives and goals
• You can respond to policy related issues, providing advice to ministry staff and senior management
• You can interpret and apply policy, procedures and legislation

Relationship Management and Facilitation Skills

• You have expertise in creating and managing stakeholder relationships
• You can consult and provide appropriate advice on policies, standards and programs to stakeholders

Communication Skills

• You can respond to issues, provide recommendations and prepare reports using standard computer software
• You can create lead and present research findings to senior management

Project Management

• You can effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines within a high-demand work environment
