If you possess a well-developed knowledge of engineering software applications and equipment this may be your opportunity to provide technical support to staff on a wide range of highway engineering related applications.

Please note that this position requires the successful candidate to work from the 301 St. Paul Street, St. Catharines office three days a week as per the Ontario Public Service requirements for non front-line service positions.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:

• Provide technical and business direction, consultation and computer application support to local and remote program area staff, management and service providers
• Diagnose and solve applications, software and equipment-related problems encountered by regional staff, managers and service providers
• Participate in process improvement (identification of requirements, opportunities and systems
• Consult with and provide training to staff, managers and consultants on engineering applications

How do I qualify?

Business Process and Information Technology Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of a variety of business processes and supporting applications (e.g. systems for highway and bridge design such as Civil 3D and InRoads, systems for land surveying, drafting and terrain modeling such as Civil 3D, Auto CAD, systems for data collection and GIS such as ArcGIS, Survey 123, Field Maps, systems for data management and storage such as SharePoint) required to provide support, training and resolve or escalate issues as appropriate
• You have knowledge of information technology and equipment (large format printers, scanners, digital land survey equipment, GPS receivers)

Analytical, Problem-Solving and Reasoning Skills:

• You are able to resolve problems encountered by client groups during data collection, manipulation or storage
• You are able to analyze new processes and equipment, and alternative delivery means

Communication Skills:

• You can direct and train staff, relate technical information to clients and service providers, and provide support to staff users and service providers accessing systems remotely
