What can I expect to do in this role?
As a Stakeholder Relations/Outreach, you will:
- Act as a primary community outreach contact for local agencies, community groups, policing organizations, solicitors, and agents in the delivery of community liaison support and service within the community.
- Consult with community groups on the development of outreach plans
- Identify and address community service issues and needs through outreach programs, consultations, feedback evaluation, and implementation of solutions.
- Promote a positive image of the OIPRD through generating public and media awareness.
- Contribute to plans and programs that promote the OIPRD's strategic direction to external stakeholders and community groups through outreach and public education.
- Recommend media relations activities that may have significant impact on the organization's credibility with various stakeholders
- Make presentations to stakeholders
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
- You must have a valid class “G” Driver's License or equivalent as recognized by the province of Ontario. You will be asked to provide proof at the time of hire.
- You will be required to work beyond normal hours to travel and attend community-driven events that take place on evenings and weekends
- You will be required to attend off-site meetings and seminars in the region which may require overnight travel and driving in a range of driving conditions
Specialized Knowledge:
- You have advanced knowledge of strategic communications principles, methods, practices, and techniques in order to develop communications and outreach strategies
- You have comprehensive knowledge of social media communications theories, messaging techniques and best practices.
- You have experience using social media as a communication and marketing tool
- You have knowledge of accessibility standards and legislation requirements(Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) to support accessible outreach strategies
- You have an awareness of OIPRD political sensitivities and the ability to obtain knowledge of OIPRD's mandate, policies, procedures, role, etc
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- You demonstrate strong consultation skills to identify and develop partnership/sponsorship opportunities and interact with a variety of stakeholders
- You have advanced relationship-building and networking skills to enhance relationships with the public and build stakeholder relations with various community groups
- You can develop presentations, workshops and seminars to stakeholders to help them better understand the public complaints system
- You can understand the needs and issues of stakeholders to develop applicable outreach strategies and presentations
- You can lead and facilitate outreach and education sessions
- You demonstrate tact, discretion, diplomacy and impartiality
Research and Analytical Skills:
- You have a strong understanding of research and analysis techniques to conduct environmental assessments of public education issues and their impact on outreach strategies
- You can use creative methods, including new media, graphics, and print publication to share messaging with the target audience
- You can identify, analyze and advise on outreach communication plans
- You can assess the needs of community groups to create and deliver customized approaches to meet stakeholder needs
- You can assess stakeholder feedback and identify outreach issues and gaps to determine key issues to be accessed and recommend a revised outreach approach
- You can evaluate the effectiveness of outreach programs and recommend improved strategies
Project Management and Coordination Skills:
- You can handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing and balancing tasks while dealing with unpredictable public demand for information.
- You can manage multiple competing tasks and deliver high-quality products to various stakeholders under tight deadlines.
