The Ontario Science Centre is seeking an experienced fundraiser and leader to lead its Partnership and Development department and support a significant revenue-generating.

The Director, Partnerships and Development contributes significantly to the annual revenue goals of the Science Centre. In addition, the Ontario Science Centre is preparing to embark on the largest campaign in its 50+ year history to support ongoing priorities at the Centre and a future capital campaign for the Centre's new home at Ontario Place.
As the Director, Partnerships and Development, you will guide a team of fundraisers comprised of staff and corporate volunteers, engaging in annual and major gifts, corporate partnerships and sponsorships, donor relations and stewardship programs and fundraising and operations.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment, the Director, Partnerships and Development:
• Provides leadership to the Partnership and Development team to further the Centre's efforts to secure and steward sponsorships, major gifts, grants, partnerships and annual donations.
• Works with the Senior Leadership Team in the development of annual and multi-year operational and financial plans for the Centre that align with organizational priorities and strategy
• Builds organizational capacity through effective human resources practices
• Builds and expands Development program to generate $3M to $5M per year, and achieve capital campaign targets creativity, collaboration, flexibility and experience

How do I qualify?
Fundraising Knowledge and Experience
You have:
• Proven ability to manage corporate and individual donor relationships, including major gift sponsorship, and partnership prospects, from identification through to cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, and to personally maintain an active portfolio of prospects
• Demonstrated experience with a capital campaign, including prospect development and identification, pipeline management, volunteer management and campaign reporting.
• Demonstrated success in building and retaining a high performing team to achieve fundraising targets that support organizational priorities
• Proven ability to lead a diverse portfolio of fundraising programs by setting and achieving targets including major gifts, corporate partnerships and sponsorships, annual programs and special events.
• Proven ability in identifying sponsor and donor interests and objectives, and successfully matching them to organizational priorities and needs
Strategic Leadership and Management Skills
You have:
• Strong leadership skills to successfully lead, manage, and motivate staff, colleagues and volunteers in order to meet the goals of the department and to build an organizational culture of philanthropy while maintaining positive employee engagement.
• Experience working in a unionized environment and have an advanced understanding of best practices in people management.
• Proven track record of providing strategic input to new projects in order to identify ways to maximize potential for securing external support.
• Demonstrated ability with accurate revenue forecasting, budget and resource planning, and managing expenses.
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to negotiate and execute complex business agreements, and to manage all administrative aspects of Development services including financial reporting, prospect research, gift and sponsorship processing, and partner data and donor record management
Communication and Relationship Management Skills
You have:
• Superior oral communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship management abilities to engage, and successfully work with partners, donors and senior volunteers
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining effective communication and collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders, including corporate sponsors, individual donors, foundations, government project funders, Board of Trustees, volunteers, senior leadership and colleagues
