As a Business Advisor within our Health Data Branch, you will play a pivotal role in advancing how health data standards enable representing the needs of service providers within the healthcare industry. You will act as a central point of contact, offering invaluable resources and insights to support businesses in meeting information management needs, ensuring compliance, and facilitating product development .
Health Data Branch oversees the central management of the strategic provincial health data assets enables the Ministry to design, develop and manage essential programs and services for Ontarians.

Data Standards Unit supports the needs of the health care system and enhance the consistency and accuracy of Ontario health data through the advancement clinical, administrative, financial, and statistical data standards
Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $82,217 to $121,155 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

What can I expect to do in this role?
You will :
• Lead and provide expertise for the development, enhancement and maintenance of financial and statistical information reporting standards and clinical data reporting requirements (e.g., Ontario Health Financial Reporting Standards (OHRS))
• Provide consulting service, advice and education on the utilization of health data standards/requirements to support health policy and program decision-making
• You will effectively collaborate and participate in a team environment with business, clinical and technical analysts and experts in a proactive manner to advocate and support the appropriate use and adoption of health data standards
How do I qualify?
Data and Information Management:
• You have knowledge of financial and statistical standards and financial reporting practices (e.g. OHRS, CIHI's Management Information System Standards (MIS)) within the health care system
• You have knowledge of clinical and administrative data reporting requirements and practices (Discharge Abstract Database(DAD), National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS) etc.)
• You have an understanding of data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality and integrity to support health policy and program decision-making
• You have knowledge of information management legislation (e.g. PHIPA, FIPPA, Public Hospitals Act, Fixing Long-Term Care Act) as it relates to the management of data
Health Care:
• You have knowledge of health care data reporting requirements (e.g., funding, expenses, case mix and case weight methodologies, hospital performance agreements, accountability frameworks and decision-making structures)
Project Management:
• You have project experience to lead, plan and conduct analysis and evaluation projects and balance competing priorities to ensure deliverables are met within set timelines
• You can provide leadership and guidance to project teams
Communication and Relationship Management Skills:
• You can consult and negotiate with business sector health service providers
• You can prepare and develop reports and recommendations, briefing and issues management material, reports, plans and correspondence
• You can build and foster productive cross-sector relationships with senior management, stakeholders and clients
• You can develop and present education and learning materials to support effective implementation, use and maintenance of reporting standards.
