What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role you will:
• Transcribe confidential reports and correspondence
• Compose and type correspondence from verbal instruction
• Manage attendance reports, databases and schedules
• Prepare and distribute monthly schedules
• Arrange appointments and meetings
• Plan and coordinate conferences and special events
• Arrange travel plans and accommodation
• Prepare statements of expense
• Act as a liaison between the judiciary and senior management ensuring confidentiality as required
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• You are able to type 50 words per minute and dicta skills to Ministry standards (70%).
Note: You will be required to complete a typing and dicta test.
Administrative Knowledge and Skills:
• You have strong organizational and administrative skills to prioritize workflow, meet deadlines with constantly changing and competing priorities, and manage the Regional Senior Justice's calendar/schedule.
• You can work independently and at times with minimal supervision.
• You have knowledge of financial and purchasing processes and practices.
• You have knowledge of electronic and paper-based document management systems and retention practices
• You have arithmetic skills to prepare expense forms and track balance.
Technical Knowledge:
• You have the ability to interpret and apply relevant statutes, legislation, and policies.
• You have general knowledge of legal administrative practices, court procedures, and legal terminology.
Communication and Analytical Skills:
• You have proven oral and written communication skills to respond to incoming calls, correspondence, and requests for information.
• You have analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills to prepare reports and compile statistics for decision making.
• You can assess the nature, sensitivity, and urgency of incoming calls and correspondence to determine the appropriate method of response.
Computer Skills:
• You are proficient with computers and word-processing software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Quicklaw and database applications and the Internet.
