What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• prepare financial and statistical reports related to programs, finances and administration
• respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to payment/non-payment of invoices, discrepancies and payment schedules
• ensure payments are complete and accurate
• process payments and reconcile financial information
• follow up on outstanding accounts to ensure timeliness of payments
• maintain computer databases of financial and program information
• communicate with ministry staff, suppliers, vendors and clients

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

You must possess oral and written French language skills at the advanced level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.

Financial Knowledge:

• you have knowledge of and experience with government financial policies, practices and procedures and financial controllership functions
• you have knowledge of general accounting principles and controls to process accounts and invoices, reconcile payments and prepare reports
• you have the ability to acquire knowledge of the structure of agencies and related Ministry activities to direct cash flow and reconcile claims by ensuring proper authorizations are in place

Analytical, Mathematical and Problem Solving Skills:

• you have analytical, evaluative, and mathematical skills to verify claims, invoices and cash flow payments to agencies
• you have problem solving skills to identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies, develop alternative approaches and provide recommendations on new business processes
• you can interpret and apply relevant polices, legislation, guidelines, principles and procedures

Computer Skills:

• you are proficient with software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, OneNote, Teams, and Outlook
• you have proven experience with databases and financial payment systems to produce, process and track payments and prepare accurate financial and statistical reports

Communication, Organizational and Interpersonal Skills:

• you have well developed communication skills to explain and clarify complex issues and respond to inquiries
• you have judgment, tact and diplomacy when providing information to clients and dealing with situations where disagreement exists regarding payment
• you have proven written communication skills to prepare written material such as reports and correspondence
• you have effective organizational and time management skills to work in a fast paced environment with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines
