What can I expect to do in this role?

As directed by the Senior Stores Clerk, the Stores Clerk assists in:

• Packaging and shipment of goods to customers
• Receiving goods from suppliers
• Maintaining storage of goods in the stockroom in a secure, orderly manner
• Maintaining accurate computerized inventory control records
• Directing and supervising inmates in the day-to-day operation of the stockroom
• Taking appropriate action when improper inmate actions or activities occur
• Performing other duties, as assigned

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You have a valid forklift operator licence
• You have current Emergency First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Heartsaver certification (or are able and willing to obtain upon hire)

Specialized Knowledge and Experience

• You have demonstrated knowledge and experience with shipping and receiving as well as storage/warehousing practices and processes
• You have knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Correctional Services Act, Human Rights Code
• You are able to understand and comply with institutional policies and procedures
• You have knowledge of practical correctional theory and principles (i.e. offender supervision techniques, security restraint techniques, defusing hostile and aggressive behaviour techniques, behavioural counselling skills, and motivation techniques)

Other Skills

• You are able to supervise and instruct inmates and maintain discipline and security in a correctional setting
• You have demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills
• You have demonstrated organizational, assessment, and problem-solving skills
