What can I expect to do in this role?
Reporting to the Manager, Facility Operations, you will:
• Provide a broad range of technical and project management services for Ontario Science Centre projects, including managing design consultants and contractors
• Develop and monitor project budgets and schedules
• Consult with internal and external stakeholders to avoid operational issues
• Develop and monitor internal facility maintenance work
• Liaise with Infrastructure Ontario and third-party service providers to identify responsibilities, facility maintenance and repair.
How do I qualify?
Project Management, Planning and Procurement
• You have completed or are enrolled in post-secondary Project Management; you have experience in construction to establish and maintain control over project elements such as timelines, budgets, work structures and accountabilities
• You have knowledge of building and fire codes; construction contracts including tendering, implementation and commissioning; and theories, principles and practices in building services, construction and maintenance processes
• You have well-developed technical and operational knowledge of facilities management to oversee day-to-day site operations
• You are able to develop, administer and control expenses and operating budgets, both for projects and for the work unit
• You have the ability to understand and apply all relevant legislation with respect to environment, building code, and health and safety issues
• You have proven ability to read, understand and interpret drawings and prepare specifications for building projects
• You are skilled in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, statistical, ACAD, project and asset management software to prepare analyses, reports and recommendations
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and service providers
• You have strong conflict resolution and negotiation ability, understand and resolve complex issues including changes to project scope, design, cost estimates, budget and timeline
• You have strong oral and written communication skills for preparing and presenting reports, project plans, status reports, and planning documents and tender documents
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
• You can plan, organize and execute projects efficiently
• You have demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work in a dynamic project environment with changing priorities
• You can identify and analyze project implementation barriers/issues and risks, provide risk assessments and mitigation strategies
