Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $82,217 to $121,155 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

About us:The Education Modelling and Forecasting Branch develops analyses, enrolment projections, and options for refinements to education funding formula to support broader education policy changes. The branch prepares the annual grant regulations that determine each school board's revenue from Grants for Student Needs.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• Coordinate and lead major research projects
• Lead the development of quantitative tools and forecasting models for the Branch
• Provide expert advice and information on statistical and econometric issues
• Evaluate the financial impacts of policy options, and develop recommendations
• Liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders
• Brief senior officials on education finance issues and participate in ministry wide and divisional committees and inter-ministerial committees
How do I qualify?
Forecasting and Modelling Expertise
• You have demonstrated expertise in econometric theory, statistical principles, forecasting methodologies and sampling techniques.
• You have demonstrated experience the design and development of computer simulation models for forecasting grant requirements of the student-focused funding model.
• You have knowledge of research theory/methods and quantitative statistical analysis methods and techniques.
• You have experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, objectives, policies and trends.
• You have expert knowledge of project management principles and methods to plan and lead model development and analysis projects.
• You have comprehensive knowledge of education finance and the Ontario student-focused funding model to identify and acquire related information from internal/external data sources.
• You have high proficiency and technical skills in spreadsheet and database design and development.
Communication and Relationship Management Skills
• You have excellent relationship management, team work and leadership skills to initiate and maintain strong and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and external/internal stakeholders.
• You have political acuity to be able to use effective interpersonal, facilitation and persuasion skills to ascertain stakeholder positions, anticipate issues and resolve conflict.

• You have excellent communication skills to provide briefings and updates to ministry officials and senior management regarding education finance issues.
