Effective January 1st, 2024 the salary range for this position is $26.92 to $31.31 per hour in compliance with OPSEU Unified Bargaining Unit collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to January 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport is looking for a well-organized individual to provide accounting support and administrative services to the staff of Fort William Historical Park (FWHP).

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• ensure accurate processing of all accounts payable and receivable transactions
• design and maintain a variety of detailed and complex financial documents and statistical reports
• identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies for clients and program staff
• develop and maintain a revenue database, reconciling daily admissions, revenue, bank deposits and outstanding accounts
• provide written responses on a daily basis to suppliers on issues-related payments
• assist with the preparation of budget estimates and forecasts
• maintain and report on departmental budgets
• provide administrative support as needed

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge

• You have knowledge of administrative and accounting principles and practices, financial procedures and policies.
• You have knowledge of banking processes related to revenue processing.
• You have knowledge of computer applications, financial administration systems, and word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and graphics software.
• You have knowledge of procurement processes and procedures.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

• You have analytical skills and attention to detail to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy of records.
• You demonstrate good judgment and problem solving skills to respond to a range of concerns and recommend options.
• You have strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines within established timelines.
• You have effective mathematical and evaluative skills to calculate, process and ensure the accuracy of accounts payable/receivable and budgets, and to prepare financial/statistical reports.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• You have strong communication skills to prepare documents and explain procedures.
• You have proven customer service skills and can deal effectively with all levels of staff and clients with tact and diplomacy.
