About the job

As part of our team, you will:
• deal with issues within set timeframes
• handle various requests related to pay and benefits, including hiring and terminations, employee transfers, maternity and parental leaves, benefits entitlements, retirement or pension enrollments, garnishments, records of employment, and absence management
• check the quality of work, fix mistakes, and report errors
• work with other teams to give advice and coordinate work

What you bring to the team

Payroll and benefits knowledge and skills:

You can:
• learn and use both provincial and federal laws to make sure all pay and benefits tasks are done correctly
• work with payroll and benefits systems, using agreements, rules, and best practices
• conduct calculations for tasks like tracking attendance, figuring out overpayments, calculating severance pay, estimating benefits, and making retroactive payments

Client-focused skills:

You can:
• communicate with employees to explain complex pay and benefits information to employees and clients in a clear and simple way
• use people skills to discuss and agree on scheduled repayments with employees

Computer skills:

You can:
• use computer programs to process payroll and benefits accurately
• use programs, including spreadsheet programs (e.g. Excel), to complete calculations for various manual tasks, including reconciliations, retroactive calculations, and overpayments

Organizational skills:

You can:
• prioritize your work, plan it out, and see it through to the end
• organize electronic files to keep them accurate and up to date, following audit, retention, and confidentiality rules
