What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:
• Independently plan, lead, develop and implement applications ranging from website design and maintenance, databases, to online ticketing and e-commerce solutions, to knowledge management solutions for the Ontario Science Centre internet, intranet and extranet solutions
• Liaise with user/client groups to identify, clarify, assess and analyse their requirements with accompanying documentation
• Implement database and application architecture, including usability and quality assurance testing in collaboration with appropriate members of the IT Systems and Applications team
• Lead and performing ongoing administration and troubleshooting OSC internet, intranet and extranet solutions.
• Provide project support for key initiatives including the new website implementation and other new product launches throughout the year.

How do I qualify?

Technical Expertise

• Knowledge of application development (e.g eCommerce and Website & Sharepoint /MS Teams Online support) in a Microsoft Cloud environment, leveraging technologies like .Net MVC, MS SQL, Team Foundation Server and SharePoint, to provide capacity to the team in support of the Strategic Plan.
• Knowledge of MS 365 SharePoint administration/ development, MS Teams, Power Apps
• Knowledge and experience supporting Public Websites that use Content Management Solutions built on the Microsoft development stack (.Net Nuke, Drupal, Umbarco etc)
• Knowledge and experience integrating third party software API's with Microsoft web applications and technologies.
• Knowledge of OPS policies and procedures related to software design, development, implementation and maintenance; OSC IT strategic plan and applicable legislation; systems analysis, programming concepts/languages, Internet technology, emerging technologies, industry, and trends
• Plan and lead the design, development, implementation, testing, maintenance, and evaluation of business system projects/initiatives; evaluate application software/hardware
• Assess quality assurance and capacity of existing systems and applications and make recommendations for improving performance; and to develop/prepare technical documentation

Research, Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

• Identify/ assess the client's information/systems needs and research solutions to make cost effective recommendations to the Director and to clients
• Demonstrate research, analytical and reasoning skills, attention to detail and sound judgment to identify and coordinate/manage and provide insight into problems and incidents.
• Maintain currency in the field and upgrade knowledge of emerging technologies, industry, and trends to plan and lead the design, development, implementation, testing, maintenance, and evaluation of business system projects/initiatives; evaluate application software/hardware ; support the development and implementation of the OSC's IT strategic direction and objectives; provide expert advice, business analysis and consulting expertise in addressing a full range of client's business software requirements/issues

Project Management Skills

• Knowledge of project planning methodologies and project management skills to lead/conduct projects and major assignments to support the Ontario Science Centre's new strategic plan.
• Team leadership skills to coordinate development of technical project plans, control project processes and provide technical guidance, set priorities, and assign activities to project teams.
• Knowledge of risk assessment methods and techniques to evaluate options, select and support best solutions.
• Ability to identify the most appropriate resources for projects and ongoing work.

Interpersonal & Communication Skills

• Interpersonal and relationship management skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships and liaise with clients, management and collaborate with other technical teams to achieve goals.
• Written and oral communication skills to develop and present technical/business documentation, project reports, status reports, business cases, recommendations and presentations to Director and client management.
