Join the Ministry of Health's Indigenous Health Policy Unit in an engaging role as an Indigenous Health Policy Analyst! In this vital position, you'll play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of Ontario's health system.

About us:
The Indigenous Health Policy Unit works with First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous partners and other government partners to improve the health outcomes of Indigenous people in Ontario. The Indigenous Health Policy Unit analyses emerging issues and trends, identifies leading practices and applies them in the health system in collaboration with partners. In addition, the Unit provides stewardship to the Indigenous health sector by building and fostering productive relationships and also advises and supports ministry partners in connecting with First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous communities and partners.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will work to improve the health outcomes for Indigenous people in Ontario and build and foster productive partnerships with the Indigenous health sector by:
• Providing leadership and expertise in the research and development of health strategies, policy, regulation and legislation to improve health status, equity and productivity at the system level
• Improving the delivery of Indigenous health services at the system level
• Providing project leadership, strategic policy development, evidence-based policy research and analysis
• Developing partnerships with key health system partners

How do I qualify?

Healthcare Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of the Indigenous health sector, including Indigenous health issues
• You have knowledge of Indigenous communities in Ontario
• You have the ability to gain knowledge of healthcare quality, productivity and governance
• You have the ability to gain knowledge of healthcare system trends, models of delivery, funding, relevant legislation and regulations, the role of the ministry, and critical issues

Policy Development and Research Expertise:

• You have knowledge of policy and research tools, performance management methodologies and metrics
• You are experienced in developing and evaluating strategic policies and processes and translating policy into legislation
• You have knowledge of policy, legislation and regulation development processes

Communication, Relationship Management and Computer Skills:

• You can prepare and present complex research analyses, detailed policy framework, speeches, briefing papers and other products
• You can work with stakeholders and partners to achieve mutual goals, and identify opportunities for collaboration
• You can prepare a variety of material using office software applications, and access the Internet as a research tool

Innovation, Creativity and Strategic Thinking Skills:

• You can link current action to business strategies and/or long-term perspectives
• You can identify ways to create more value-added solutions for Indigenous communities and partners

Project Management, Negotiation and Facilitation Skills:

• You can provide project planning and leadership on concurrent policy development projects
• You can work collaboratively with team members to manage deadlines and competing priorities
