A challenging opportunity exists in a central ambulance communications centre. We are seeking dedicated individuals to: work rotating shifts in a 24/7 environment; process 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency requests for ambulance service; direct ambulance movements; provide pre-arrival instructions; communicate with individuals under stress; and operate complex computer-aided telecommunications equipment

What can I expect to do in this role?

Strong multi-tasking, organizational and memory recall skills; ability to maintain control under pressure and use professional judgment; excellent critical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills; skill in handling situations in a professional manner; excellent leadership, customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills; proficiency in computer software and computer-based telecommunications applications; good understanding of spatial concepts (e.g., reading maps, calculating time, distance and movement); demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and information; typing at 35 wpm with 90% accuracy
