Are you looking for a progressive opportunity to use your leadership and broad engineering expertise? If so, consider this opportunity where you will provide technical expertise and leadership for complex bridge projects.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
-provide advanced expertise on design, rehabilitation, construction, evaluation, inspection and overall management of bridges, culverts and other transportation structures
-provide expert technical guidance and recommendations
-lead complex projects for multiple structures
-coordinate research and development of new and improved engineering methods
-update policies, procedures, specifications, codes, manuals and systems
-lead and participate on internal and external committees.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

-You must be licensed by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).

Engineering Knowledge and Skills

-You have advanced practical knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering, including bridge design, rehabilitation, construction, evaluation and inspection and practical experience in the design, rehabilitation, construction, evaluation and inspection of complex bridges.
-You have knowledge of related fields such as road design, hydrology, soils and foundations.
-You have knowledge of related standards, specifications and practices, such as the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code, Structure Rehabilitation Manual, Structural Manual, and Ontario Provincial Standards.
-You have advanced research, analytical and problem solving skills to carry out the design, rehabilitation, construction, evaluation and inspection of structures and to develop new policies, standards, procedures, tools and models.

Other Essential Skills

-You have advanced project leadership, planning and organizational skills.
-You have excellent oral and written communication skills to provide advice, presentations, and to provide written materials and documentation.
-You have excellent consultation and negotiation skills to work effectively with ministry staff and outside agencies and to participate in various internal and external committees.
