Are you a motivated individual? If so, then bring your expertise to the Ministry of Finance, Collections Branch, London Tax Office to conduct debt collection activities in support of business-critical revenue generating operational requirements.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this position, you will:

• Collect provincial tax arrears by investigating/resolving delinquent accounts resulting from taxpayers failure to comply;
• Contact clients and their representatives to determine reasons for non compliance;
• Negotiate payment arrangements and initiate necessary action;
• Inform clients of their rights and obligations;
• Recommend legal actions/sanctions and other courses of action on accounts to management.

How do I qualify?

Financial knowledge:

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of collection techniques, including phone calls, letters, recommendations for legal actions such as garnishments and other judgment action;
• Familiarity with bankruptcy administration and debt security instruments;
• Knowledge of legislation and acts impacting debt collection and ability to follow policies and procedures;
• Knowledge of accounting methods to analyze financial data.

Communication skills:

• Oral communication and interpersonal skills to negotiate and deal tactfully and diplomatically with an array of people in sensitive situations and manage conflict effectively;
• Written communication skills to prepare correspondence and other documents.

Analytical skills:

• Research and analytical skills to gather and analyze data;
• Exercise strong judgment skills and work independently and accurately with high volumes of assignments.

Computer skills:

• Ability to work proficiently in a computerized environment.
