Bring your strong policy development, research and analytical skills to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, to provide advanced policy analysis, research and business planning in support of strategic housing policy initiatives and legislative regulatory development. We are seeking an experienced, innovative, collaborative professional to lead the development of affordable housing policy, integrated with the government's fiscal, social and economic priorities.

What can I expect to do in this role?

Working as part of the Housing Policy Branch team, you will:
• lead project-based research and analysis
• develop strategic policy options
• liaise with internal and external stakeholders
• brief senior decision-makers
• serve as the key contact for policy development consultation and coordination purposes with stakeholders
• represent the Branch on intra and inter-ministerial corporate committees and projects related to housing policies

How do I qualify?

Knowledge

• you have thorough knowledge of policy development and program evaluation principles to research, analyze and develop policies, and to give advice and guidance to team members and management
• you have expertise in drafting briefing documents, research reports, and policy recommendations, along with expertise in the development of complex legislation and regulations in order to contribute to the policy and legislation/regulation development process
• you have excellent knowledge of housing, financial, fiscal and economic issues and the housing market
• you have proven ability to acquire knowledge of government housing legislation, government policies, programs and related decision initiatives for affordable housing in order to research, assess and develop new and revised policies and programs to promote and implement market housing initiatives

Demonstrated Project Management and Team Leadership Skills

• you can manage a variety of concurrent projects to meet tight deadlines, including developing project plans and controlling project progress through the work of multi-disciplinary project teams
• you can lead a team of skilled professionals engaged in complex work

Research, Conceptual, and Analytical Skills

• you can research, evaluate, and assess current/proposed initiatives to determine future strategic directions
• you can identify and analyze trends, patterns, issues and opportunities among internal and external stakeholders
• you can anticipate and absorb complex issues and develop policy options

Effective Communication, Consultation and Interpersonal Skills

• you can develop research reports, policy recommendations, special reports
• you can liaise with municipal and federal/provincial/municipal counterparts and other stakeholders to research and develop joint initiatives
• you can develop and maintain stakeholder relations that provide for ongoing, effective, open and interactive communications
