An interesting opportunity exists with the Social Policy and Fiscal Framework Branch to provide policy analysis and advice on federal-provincial fiscal arrangements, including Ontario's fiscal relationships with the federal government and other provinces.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• develop strategic policy options on fiscal federalism
• analyze financial data and design and operate quantitative models
• assess other governments' proposals and prepare written materials
• participate in budget processes
• attend inter-ministerial and intergovernmental meetings
• develop policy options and lead financial and economic analyses
• consult and communicate with other provinces, the federal government and other ministries in Ontario

How do I qualify?

Research, Analytical, Statistical and Quantitative Skills:

• You can perform complex assignments within tight deadlines
• You can analyze financial data and design and operate quantitative models

Technical Expertise:

• You have knowledge of economics, public finance, political science, public or business administration, or related discipline
• You can analyze complex issues and provide information and advice
• You understand the interdependence between the economy and government finances across Canada.
• You are able to exercise independence and creativity in determining the best method of research and analysis and in outlining viable policy alternatives related to federal-provincial fiscal relations

Communication, Negotiation, Interpersonal and Organizational Skills:

• You can prepare and present material to the Minister and senior management within the Ministry of Finance and other ministries
• You can lead project teams and to edit, guide and coordinate the work of others

Computer Skills:

• You are proficient with common computer programs and applications (e.g. spreadsheets, word processing and graphics packages) to store, share, model and present information
