What can I expect to do in this role?

• Plan, manage, and control the financial processing and analysis related to the administration of the program's bank account and payment processing system
• Manage and control the unit's operating budget
• Administer the service provider contract for the processing of support payments
• Provide strategic advice and consultation to senior program management to improve program effectiveness and support management decision-making
• Manage and provide leadership to administrative and financial staff and provide guidance in resolving complex issues

How do I qualify?

Management and Leadership Skills

• You can manage and supervise staff including recruitment, training, performance management, work assignment, and resolving labour relations issues
• You can provide leadership and coordination in the processing of high volumes of monthly payment activities and transactions
• You can develop operational plans and work schedules as well as establish resource requirements

Finance, Business Planning, and Accounting Knowledge and Experience

• You have extensive knowledge of principles and practices related to financial accounting and analysis, financial systems and controls, and relevant computerized information technologies
• You know and have experience with banking services and banking reconciliation and adjustments in order to manage and control a large program external bank account
• You can coordinate internal financial processing and develop accounting systems, policies, and methods
• You know business planning processes and practices in order to conduct trend analysis and identify business and change management strategies
• You can develop and recommend business improvement strategies to achieve service delivery and customer service objectives

Analytical and Conceptual Skills

• You can anticipate, resolve, and advise on complex account discrepancies and major financial issues across functional areas
• You can identify and manage risk plans and priorities
• You can acquire knowledge of and interpret/apply relevant legislation such as the Family Responsibility and Support Arrears Enforcement Act
• You can acquire knowledge of related government programs, policies, and processes in order to identify systemic process and policy issues and recommend corrective strategies to senior management

Communication, Consultation, Negotiation, and Interpersonal Skills

• You can provide strategic advice to senior management, present policy reports, and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders
• You can negotiate complex cost sharing and payment arrangements with external stakeholders
• You can liaise with banking service providers and income sources
