The Service Management and Operations Branch is seeking a results oriented individual to lead project teams in software quality assurance testing for current and future projects within the Government Services Cluster.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• develop test strategies for application portfolios, coordinate and oversee the completion of test strategies and test plans
• define quality assurance targets, create templates using IBM Rational Toolset
• lead and promote a load testing discipline among projects
• conduct reviews, assessments and create reports on overall quality assurance status in the cluster
• participate in cluster project management, risk management, development and issues management activities
• prepare, validate, automate and execute all related test cases and test scripts
• review and analyze client business requirements for system changes and upgrades to determine testing requirements
• contribute directly to the cluster/ministry mandate by creating a strategy for quality control of applications

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge and Skills

• proven experience in the development, testing and implementation of applications including good knowledge of different platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, languages and telecommunications protocols
• proven facility in structured methodologies for the design, development and implementation of n-tier applications and extensive experience in the use of test and development tools
• knowledge of database design and data dictionaries
• working knowledge of industry best practice automation tools including HP Load Runner, Rational Functional tester
• knowledge of current development and testing tools/languages within the different frameworks and platforms (eg. J2EE, NET, Domino, IMS, Oracle etc.)

Knowledge and Skills in Quality Assurance Testing

• knowledge and understanding of quality assurance methodologies and object-oriented analysis/design techniques
• experience in monitoring and enforcing application quality control standards
• knowledge of current trends in IT quality assurance domain

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

• analytical and problem solving skills to ensure compliance with quality control guidelines, assessing and reporting on quality control findings and making decisions on the quality acceptability
• excellent skills in systems analysis, systems design, problem solving, project planning, test planning, creation of test cases and execution of testing activities

Communication and Negotiation Skills

• strong oral and written communication skills to provide quality control advice and guidance to project teams
• strong negotiation and consulting skills to liaise and facilitate communications with numerous internal and external stakeholders
• demonstrated customer service and consensus building skills to determine client expectations for the development and implementation of information systems and technology
