Are you looking for an opportunity to use your biology skills and knowledge? Would you like to work with a dynamic dedicated group within the Fish and Wildlife Services Branch? Then consider this opportunity to provide leadership in the planning and implementation of the Lake Ontario fisheries management program.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a member of the Lake Ontario Management Team, you will:

• Lead management planning and co-ordinate the implementation of management programs for Fisheries Management Zone 20 (Lake Ontario and the upper St. Lawrence River).
• Acts as a liaison with other management bodies (districts, regions, other provincial, federal and international agencies).
• Provide professional and administrative leadership for lake-wide programs.

How do I qualify?

PROGRAM RELATED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Demonstrated knowledge and/or the ability to interpret the principles, policies and practices related to fisheries management planning, aquatic biologic and ecology, monitoring design, analysis and reporting and their application to aquatic ecosystem management.
• Knowledge of and/or ability to interpret financial, administrative and resource management policies, procedures, legislation and regulations.
• Ability to interpret or knowledge of current biological/ecological science and principles related to Great Lakes fisheries and aquatic ecosystems, resource management practices and planning approaches.

TEAM LEADERSHIP AND RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT SKILLS:

• Proven team leadership, interpersonal, facilitation and consultation skills for liaison with staff and clients from within MNR, other government organizations, and non-government organizations, stakeholder groups and interest groups.
• Knowledge of work responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION SKILLS:

• Demonstrated organizational and project management skills to coordinate a lake-wide management planning, work planning and report back on progress.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

• Demonstrated oral and written communications skills to make presentations in public and government agency forums, and to prepare management plans, public reports, prepare communications material and briefing notes.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Proven knowledge of personal computer software and information management.
• Knowledge of geo-spatial software and computer models would be an asset.

MANDATORY:

• Valid driver's license of class 'G' or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
