What can I expect to do in this role?

The WSIB's Occupational Disease & Specialized Services Division is a key partner in the organization's strategic transformation initiatives with a focus on designing new solutions with the customer experience in mind.

We are looking for a results oriented professional to provide expertise in the area of occupational hygiene, including advice regarding current and historical occupational exposures as related to the adjudication of occupational disease claims.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

Candidate must possess:

• University completion at the post graduate level with a Masters in Occupational Hygiene, Engineering or Occupational Health.
• A broad range of experience in a professional practice as an Occupational Hygienist, (theory and hands-on)
• Certification as a: Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) by the American Board of Industrial Hygienists (ABIH) or Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) by the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH).
• A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of referrals; providing assessments of current and historical workplace exposures to chemical, physical and biological exposure agents for individual or a group of claims.
• Provide expert opinion, scientific advice and guidance on matters relating to occupational hygiene.
• Design, create, deliver and update databases of industry exposure profiles to capture existing information and identify emerging trends in occupational exposures.
• Contribute to return to work efforts by providing expert opinion regarding anticipated exposures and exposure control considerations for proposed job/employment opportunities.
• Develop new methodologies and techniques for the completion of retrospective exposure assessments and validate through peer reviewed publications and presentations.
• Participate in professional meetings and educational seminars. Develop and deliver presentations and training relating to occupational hygiene.
• Remain current, knowledgeable and aware of workplace exposure trends; present and future needs; problems and opportunities for improvement in relation to services provided.
• Develop and maintain relationships within the occupational health and safety community and other stakeholders ensuring an appropriate exchange of information about occupational hygiene issues.
• Perform all other related duties, as required.
