The Food Safety and Environmental Policy Branch has an exciting opportunity for an energetic professional to provide leadership in the development of agricultural environmental policy. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects, and provide and communicate research and analyses to support nutrient management legislative policy.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• Provide expert analysis and advice to the Minister, Deputy Minister and other senior management on complex policy issues
• Lead multi-disciplinary and multi-ministry teams
• Foster relationships with key stakeholders to develop good legislation
• Formulate and communicate policy direction, positions and recommendations
• Develop and maintain contacts with federal, and provincial colleagues and industry stakeholders

How do I qualify?

Knowledge:

• You have expert knowledge of project management, policy analysis and policy decision making processes
• You have demonstrated knowledge of legislation and other policy tools to ensure the appropriate direction of government policy and programs
• You have knowledge of the agriculture and environmental sectors and issues, and relevant policies, legislation and stakeholders

Applied Skills:

• You understand and can interpret data, information, legislation and regulations.
• You have advanced analytical and research skills in order to develop and interpret strategic conclusions and develop informed policy options
• You have superior written communication skills to prepare briefing materials, reports, presentations and correspondence
• You have superior oral communication skills to present information to a variety of audiences
• You have advanced project management and leadership skills to design, develop and implement complex project plans within tight deadlines
• You have advanced leadership and influencing skills to lead teams, provide direction and guidance and resolve conflict

Computer Skills

• Knowledge of a variety of software applications including word-processing, spreadsheet, project management and presentation software
