What can I expect to do in this role?

Work Description:

• Ensures that all patrons abide by the rules and regulations of the Marina
• Responsible for the daily operation of the Marina. This includes; both South and North Marina, Marina Fuel Dock, Golf carts and patrol boats
• Responsible for the efficient use of all dock and store staff ensuring all positions are manned on time
• Aids the Assistant Manager in training staff in the various areas of the Marina
• Handles public relations with the boaters
• Ensures the accurate collection and processing of all revenue from Marina Fuel Dock and ice sales
• Identify problems and attempt to resolve them before deferring to the Assistant Manager
• Work may require experience specified/listed in the questions below

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

Some positions require students to be 15-24 years of age (or 15-29 years of age if you are a person with a disability) due to program funding.

Some positions may require the successful candidate(s) to undergo a personal security screening check as a condition of employment.

Qualification Requirements:

Communications and Interpersonal Skills
• You apply your oral communications skills, interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills to deal with the different needs of staff, team leaders and boaters as well as difficult boater concerns and requests
• You apply your written communication skills to prepare a variety of documents (e.g. reports, document findings, record data)
• You apply your initiative and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary

Technical Skills and Knowledge
• Previous experience in the operation of marine vessels
• Demonstrate previous experience in cash handling and point of sale system

Analytical and Organizational Skills
• You apply your administrative and organizational skills to maintain records, daily log entries, daily statistics etc.
• You work independently or as part of a team; you plan, organize and prioritize your time to meet competing deadlines
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and use strong analytical skills to make decisions based on available information

Other Requirements
• You are at least 18 years of age
• You must have a valid Ontario G2 Driver's Licence (or higher) with an excellent record
• Previous experience on a point of sale system is an asset
• Previous experience in a supervisory role is an asset
• You must have a valid and current Pleasure Craft Operators Card or be willing to obtain one
• You must be able to swim
