Bring your Geographic Information Systems (GIS) expertise and strong leadership skills to the Ministry of Transportation.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As GIS Coordinator, you will:

• take the lead in the coordination of GIS activities and projects within the region
• assist in the development and implementation of ministry policy, standards and procedures related to GIS to ensure a consistent approach across the ministry
• provide a regional point of contact for specialized GIS expertise, client support, services and technical direction on the planning, design, use and acquisition of spatial business data and databases for GIS

How do I qualify?

Technical expertise:

• sound knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) principles, practices, spatial standards and procedures
• knowledge of GIS application technology such as ArcGIS, spatial database application software such as Spatial Data Engine, Access, SQL, Oracle and Microsoft Office Suite

Problem solving and analytical skills:

• sound analytical and problem solving skills to resolve complex problems, develop innovative solutions and interpret and assess industry best practices

Project management and organizational skills:

• proven planning, organizational and project management skills to lead and manage GIS projects and provide input on priorities
• demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills to lead a GIS Community of Practice and provide direction, technical leadership and guidance to staff

Communication and people skills:

• well developed oral and written communication
• consulting and interpersonal skills
